OUR VISION
House of Bezalel values craftsmanship above markup. For that reason, we are motivated to bring unique high quality products to the market at a reasonable price to be appreciated by more people.
MADE FOR MORE
We believe good products should do more than just look good. They should be useful, reliable, and made to last.
At House of Bezalel, every piece is created with purpose and attention to detail. Our goal is to make products people can carry and use every day while appreciating the craftsmanship behind them.
We believe in creating pieces that hold value over time — products that become part of your journey and tell a story through years of use.
OUR STORY
In 2023 the founder and artisan, Rico Greyling, received his first leather craft tools as a gift from his father. As they say, the rest is history.
This was the very first belt that he made and sold, which introduced him to the idea that this can be more than hobby and potentially develop into a business.
This might look like biltong, but it's in fact leather belts. While still working a full-time job, Rico would take time after-hours and weekends to improve his skill by producing goods out of his parents' garage.
He would get his first big break in his venture when he got the opportunity to create custom guitar straps for the South African singer - Jo Black
In March of 2025, Rico made the big decision to leave his current job and pursue leatherwork full-time. House of Bezalel (Pty) Ltd is born. This was our very first logo.
After only a month of doing business full-time, House of Bezalel attended Huntex - the largest hunting expo in South Africa, which propelled the business forward especially in the hunting industry.
In June of 2025, House of Bezalel was privileged to move into a newly renovated workshop in Vanderbijlpark where the business could further grow and expand.
June was the month of many breakthrough, because on the 27th Rico got to marry the love of his life, Rene. She has played a crucial part in getting the business to where it is today.
In February of 2026, the decision was made to pack up the business and move down to the North Coast to establish the business in Ballito, KZN.
Today, House of Bezalel operates out of a small workshop in Ballito and plans to expand into a bigger space as the business grows.
WHY HOUSE OF "BEZALEL"?
The name “Bezalel” comes from the Bible, in the book of Exodus. Bezalel was chosen and gifted with wisdom, skill, and creativity to lead the craftsmanship and design of the Tabernacle.
“I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills.”
— Exodus 31:3
Bezalel worked with his hands to create with excellence, detail, and purpose — values that inspired the foundation of our brand.
At House of Bezalel, we carry that same approach into our work by creating handcrafted leather goods with care, intention, and attention to detail.
A message from Rico:
"I don't believe that it is a coincidence that you have found your way to House of Bezalel. You are the reason that we exist. It is not just our appreciation for the art of leather that we have in common, but also the fact that we have been created in the image of an incredible God. We are family and just like God's house in paradise, this house also has many rooms of which one belongs to you. You are loved and you are welcome!"
